French Import. Hand Painted 17c-18c Porcelain ceramic plaque. This is an excellent example of French Paleography. The lettering is in French gold scripted calligraphy. Embellished with a lovely use of floral and roses. In superb condition for it's age. Minuscule nips on the back are as shown. Presumably it was hung on leather. Whatever it was hung with has long been gone. The holes remain strong and are ready for you to use whatever you like to display it. It measures approximately: 7.25" X 5.25".
It says: Remerciements a St Antoine pour une grace obtenue which means: "Thanks to St Antoine for a grace obtained". St. Antoine Daniel was born (May 27, 1601 Dieppe, Normandie France he died - July 4, 1648 he was only 47 years old. He was a Jesuit Missionary at Sainte Marie. St Anthony Daniel Roman Catholic Church & Parish Ontario is named for him.
